When Victorien Severe fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored R.C. Marseille's protests and gave Victorien Severe a yellow card for diving instead. Victorien Severe hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Yann Scott managed to get in a good position for a shot. La Pointe Courte's supporters rose to their feet, but Yann Scott was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thomas Gascon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. R.C. Marseille's Thomas Gascon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thibaut Mazieres in the 24th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Yann Scott put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Thomas Gascon. After a rather tough play, La Pointe Courte's Thibaut Mazieres got a free kick in the 37th minute. In the 40th minute, Gustave Icard got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. La Pointe Courte's Sabri Fouquet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blaise Castera in the 42nd minute of play. After 44 played minutes La Pointe Courte got a freekick which was hit by Thibaut Mazieres. Omar Suchet kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Yann Scott fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Gascon having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Blaise Castera stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Harry Gélis's late challenge caught a La Pointe Courte's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Harry Gélis helped the player get up and apologised. In the 50th match minute, R.C. Marseille was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harry Gélis to maneuver through the defense. Yann Scott fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Gascon having to interfere. 56 minutes into the match, La Pointe Courte's goal looked a bit too open when Blaise Castera came free, but Sabri Fouquet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sabri Fouquet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Blaise Castera, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 65th minute Gustave Icard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sabri Fouquet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sabri Fouquet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blaise Castera in the 74th minute of play. Yann Scott struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Thomas Gascon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for La Pointe Courte. Greg Santoro charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. A collision led to R.C. Marseille getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Fernand Savarit hit a great ball. The La Pointe Courte supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing La Pointe Courte would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
