The ball went over the crossbar instead. 0-1 became the score in the 9th minute when Raúl Lombera elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. A collision led to Loja S.C. getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Venceslas Yurre hit a great ball. In the 17th minute Texeira Noceda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Corozo Nevares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raúl Lombera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Raúl Lombera's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Corozo Nevares was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victoriano Fortuño in the 26th minute of play forced Loja S.C.'s goalkeeper López Enciso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Juan-Angel Ordax came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Astillero del Guayas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juan-Angel Ordax couldn't finish the play. In the 41st minute, Raúl Lombera got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Norberto Buitrago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Corozo Nevares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Raúl Lombera in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Corozo Nevares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After the first half Loja S.C. were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After having played for 50 minutes, Leonel Sevane managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Astillero del Guayas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leonel Sevane was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With an all-out effort, Loja S.C.'s Corozo Nevares threw himself towards the right post 53 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Raúl Lombera, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Videl Amaya kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. In the 63rd minute of the match, Raúl Lombera tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Corozo Nevares saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. López Enciso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonel Sevane, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Leonel Sevane's late challenge caught a Loja S.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leonel Sevane helped the player get up and apologised. Leonel Sevane hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. A collision led to Astillero del Guayas getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Videl Amaya hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raúl Lombera in the 74th minute of play forced Astillero del Guayas's goalkeeper Corozo Nevares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. German Masdeu made in the 76th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Astillero del Guayas's Videl Amaya. After 78 played minutes Astillero del Guayas got a freekick which was hit by Marcelo Pujado. Texeira Noceda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Raúl Lombera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Corozo Nevares having to interfere. In the 93rd minute, Loja S.C.'s Raúl Lombera ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Corozo Nevares. Corozo Nevares yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Loja S.C. had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
