When the match clock showed 18 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Omar Gayo sped through No Me Inscriban Gracias's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Saritama Villarroel. Astillero del Guayas's Victoriano Fortuño got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 23 played minutes No Me Inscriban Gracias got a freekick which was hit by Xepe Videgaray. No Me Inscriban Gracias's Saritama Villarroel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Omar Gayo in the 24th minute of play. After 37 minutes, Omar Gayo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Astillero del Guayas and the No Me Inscriban Gracias players grew even worse after the yellow card. Omar Gayo hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Astillero del Guayas's Corozo Nevares got control of the ball when Felipe Salantes tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, No Me Inscriban Gracias's Estevez Gandarillas got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Saritama Villarroel came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Astillero del Guayas's Omar Gayo. But to his dismay, Omar Gayo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. No Me Inscriban Gracias's Saritama Villarroel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victoriano Fortuño in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Astillero del Guayas were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Estevez Gandarillas made a kick off. When Omar Gayo came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Astillero del Guayas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Omar Gayo couldn't finish the play. Omar Gayo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Saritama Villarroel made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Omar Gayo got free with Saritama Villarroel in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Salantes in the 63rd minute of play forced Astillero del Guayas's goalkeeper Corozo Nevares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Saritama Villarroel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Victoriano Fortuño in the 65th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Estevez Gandarillas in the 67th minute of play forced Astillero del Guayas's goalkeeper Corozo Nevares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of No Me Inscriban Gracias booed when Astillero del Guayas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victoriano Fortuño didn't get a good kick on the ball. Corozo Nevares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gian-Carlo Eijo, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. 80 minutes into the game, No Me Inscriban Gracias's Estevez Gandarillas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Corozo Nevares made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Corozo Nevares came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by No Me Inscriban Gracias's Estevez Gandarillas. But to his dismay, Estevez Gandarillas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3.
