Corozo Nevares didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ulises Casanande went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 12 minutes into the match, Astillero del Guayas's goal looked a bit too open when Luis-Antonio Hompanera came free, but Corozo Nevares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 18th minute of the match Anibal Villascuerna sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Corozo Nevares skillfully saved the ball. In the 27th minute Victoriano Fortuño shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guerrero Marva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Astillero del Guayas's Videl Amaya quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Iachetti Blasco, made in the 30th minute of the game. Corozo Nevares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xacobo Isern, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Victoriano Fortuño charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Victoriano Fortuño the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Victoriano Fortuño kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. If Luis-Antonio Hompanera had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Corozo Nevares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulises Casanande, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Barcelona de América's Juan Sobre was substituted for Luis-Antonio Hompanera. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ulises Casanande to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Barcelona de América booed when Astillero del Guayas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Corozo Nevares was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Anibal Villascuerna. Anibal Villascuerna hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Astillero del Guayas's Corozo Nevares got control of the ball when Ulises Casanande tried to sneak it across the goal line. 74 minutes into the match, Juan Sobre notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Astillero del Guayas's Corozo Nevares. Corozo Nevares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Astillero del Guayas players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
