The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Club Atlético de Newell's Dušan Ančic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matt Friend in the 3rd minute of play. When T H F C's Franz Midgley in the 8th minute got a chance for a shot 8th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Spike Foley could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Luke Bush made a huge save. If Matt Friend had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dušan Ančic stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Franz Midgley's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind T H F C's goalkeeper Luke Bush, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Luke Bush showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugo Alexandersen in the 22nd minute of the match. Dušan Ančic stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Franz Midgley's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. After 26 minutes, Arbi Newell mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Atlético de Newell and the T H F C players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of T H F C booed when Club Atlético de Newell was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arbi Newell didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dušan Ančic stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Franz Midgley's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. The audience was convinced that Franz Midgley's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dušan Ančic was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. 40 minutes into the match, Pastor Eufemio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luke Bush. T H F C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pastor Eufemio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Spike Foley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Luke Bush tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

T H F C's Kristopher Cavanagh was substituted for Dave Hartley. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sebastian Percival was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, T H F C's John-Paul Lumbergs dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Dušan Ančic made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Matt Friend sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Franz Midgley in the 59th minute of play forced Club Atlético de Newell's goalkeeper Dušan Ančic to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 63rd minute, Hugo Alexandersen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Atlético de Newell fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Club Atlético de Newell's Bobby Bear was substituted for Arbi Newell. With a little luck, Club Atlético de Newell's Dušan Ančic got control of the ball when Matt Friend tried to sneak it across the goal line. Orson Billington charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Orson Billington the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Club Atlético de Newell booed when T H F C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orson Billington didn't get a good kick on the ball. T H F C's Rowan Tyler was substituted for Matt Friend. After a rather tough play, T H F C's Orson Billington got a free kick in the 72nd minute. When Club Atlético de Newell's Sebastian Percival in the 73rd minute got a chance for a shot 73rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 78th minute, Bobby Bear hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Franz Midgley might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dušan Ančic. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Franz Midgley ran back to his position shaking his head. After 81 played minutes Club Atlético de Newell got a freekick which was hit by Bobby Bear. Club Atlético de Newell made a substitution. Casey Harban replaced Vince Haywood. A collision led to Club Atlético de Newell getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Bobby Bear hit a great ball. Ronan Sugden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Dušan Ančic tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luke Bush showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hugo Alexandersen, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Pastor Eufemio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético de Newell's supporters rose to their feet, but Pastor Eufemio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luke Bush breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The T H F C players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Club Atlético de Newell from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
