The audience thought a goal was coming when Schorsch Schmalzbauer got free with Tim Johnstone in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carl Downes in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Clive Holloway prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Schorsch Schmalzbauer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Tim Johnstone made a huge save. The Tigers's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
