The audience thought a goal was coming when Damaso Xacintu got free with Ilias Seichanidis in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 15 minutes into the match, ΟΦΗ's goalkeeper Ilias Seichanidis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Clayton Gol. In the 16th minute Thodoris Tassoulis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ilias Seichanidis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The ΟΦΗ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ilias Seichanidis should have stopped the shot. ΟΦΗ made a substitution. Akis Karaoulanis replaced Babbis Theodorakakos. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nasos Papadis to make the kick off. Yahia van der Saar was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Augusto Landero showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 55 minute of play. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind ΟΦΗ's goalkeeper Ilias Seichanidis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sheriff were awarded a corner in the 86th minute after ΟΦΗ's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Iraklis Karasavvidis took the corner. Ilias Seichanidis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clayton Gol in the 90th minute of play. When the match clock showed 93 minutes, the score became 4-1 when Clayton Gol sped through ΟΦΗ's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ilias Seichanidis. Clayton Gol took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ilias Seichanidis. Ilias Seichanidis dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-1. Sheriff's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
