In the 22nd minute Tiger were awarded a corner. Christo Bothenhain went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Tiger's Christo Bothenhain to fire away a dangerous shot which Prospero Goethe despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Prospero Goethe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pentti Ojala, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Hermann Luscher fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Friesenwerdermoor's protests and gave Hermann Luscher a yellow card for diving instead. Friesenwerdermoor's Prospero Goethe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iwo Sawicki in the 28th minute of play. With his leg Josef Witlatschil managed to avoid a goal in the 30thth minute, when Friesenwerdermoor's Pekin Energin fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Prospero Goethe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pentti Ojala's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iwo Sawicki in the 32nd minute of play forced Friesenwerdermoor's goalkeeper Prospero Goethe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Prospero Goethe came out of the goal and Pentti Ojala tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Tiger booed when Friesenwerdermoor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alf Plump didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hermann Luscher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iwo Sawicki to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Lennard Rossmanith's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Josef Witlatschil was relentless in the 54th minute of the game.
