The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Gery Burhanuddin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. When SV Klingsmoos's Gery Burhanuddin in the 9th minute got a chance for a shot 9th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalie prevented a goal. Gery Burhanuddin took the ball and in the 11 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Uwe Ziege. Uwe Ziege dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 18th minute SV Klingsmoos were awarded a corner. Ghitã Pârlea went to the cornerflag to take it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gery Burhanuddin in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Uwe Ziege prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Berthold Bach made an important save on a dangerous shot by Octavian Basten in the 27th minute. In the 32nd minute, Gery Burhanuddin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SV Klingsmoos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. De-la-Cruz Fantasia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Uwe Ziege came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by SV Klingsmoos's Gery Burhanuddin. But to his dismay, Gery Burhanuddin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Anestis Kotsopoulos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Berthold Bach tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The wind increased when Octavian Basten made the kick off in the second half. If Gery Burhanuddin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 57 minutes into the game, Gery Burhanuddin recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Uwe Ziege. Gery Burhanuddin showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-4. In the 61st minute, Mesut Özil got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 64th minute Anestis Kotsopoulos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berthold Bach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gery Burhanuddin might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Uwe Ziege. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gery Burhanuddin ran back to his position shaking his head. Gery Burhanuddin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Uwe Ziege tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. SV Klingsmoos's Berthold Bach played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anestis Kotsopoulos in the 70th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Gery Burhanuddin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Uwe Ziege was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as SV Klingsmoos's Gery Burhanuddin slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Uwe Ziege. That made the score 0-5 after 82 minutes of play. In the 88th minute, SV Klingsmoos's Gery Burhanuddin dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-6. Gery Burhanuddin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 94 minutes into the game, Torsten Henning was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SV Klingsmoos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rot-Weiss-Essen the free kick. Torsten Henning hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match.
