In the 12th minute Isac Goșa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pompiliu Zmărăndescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Răzvan Mumuleanu kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Nae Pavel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gheorghe Herea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th minute of the match FC Brink got a corner. U Craiova's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gheorghe Herea ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on FC Brink's corner Gheorghe Herea fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Nae Pavel quite easily take care of the ball. A collision led to FC Brink getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Jerry Priest hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Romeo Crețulescu got free with Pompiliu Zmărăndescu in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Romeo Crețulescu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Pompiliu Zmărăndescu came out and tried to block the shot, but Romeo Crețulescu slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 20th minute. Romeo Crețulescu's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Pompiliu Zmărăndescu firmly grabbed it by the left post. Gheorghe Herea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 25 played minutes, FC Brink's Gheorghe Herea shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nae Pavel came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Brink reached it. Narcis Silişteanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 36 minutes, Narcis Silişteanu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U Craiova and the FC Brink players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nae Pavel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gheorghe Herea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 41st minute, Aurelian Voinea ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nae Pavel was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Horea Frumușanu in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pompiliu Zmărăndescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 46th minute, Călin Macrea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Gheorghe Herea in the 51st minute of play forced U Craiova's goalkeeper Nae Pavel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nae Pavel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Răzvan Mumuleanu in the 56th minute of the match. After 59 played minutes U Craiova got a freekick which was hit by Narcis Silişteanu. After 68 played minutes FC Brink got a freekick which was hit by Răzvan Mumuleanu. FC Brink's Pompiliu Zmărăndescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romeo Crețulescu in the 70th minute of play. Nae Pavel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Răzvan Mumuleanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Nae Pavel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gheorghe Herea in the 73rd minute of the match. With a little luck, U Craiova's Nae Pavel got control of the ball when Răzvan Mumuleanu tried to sneak it across the goal line. 88 minutes into the match, U Craiova's goalkeeper Nae Pavel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gheorghe Herea. If Romeo Crețulescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to FC Brink getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Håkan Ivarsson hit a great ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the U Craiova players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
