Florin Logofătu was slow to take the kick. During this time Progresul Pitesti's players had a chance to rest. Martin Tudor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mihai Tâbârnă, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. GoooooL's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Călin Senin in the 10th minute. The corner ended in Ştefan Grigore almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Progresul Pitesti's Martin Tudor did a great save. Martin Tudor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Călin Senin in the 12th minute of play. In the 19th minute Mihai Tâbârnă shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Tudor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was a well-played corner which Carter Barillari managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In the 29th minute of the match, Timmie Deinse got a very nice opportunity to score, but Iker Madrid was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Martin Tudor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihai Tâbârnă, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Progresul Pitesti's Martin Tudor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ştefan Grigore in the 34th minute of play. Vasile Blănaru could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Iker Madrid made a huge save. Iker Madrid made an important save on a dangerous shot by Chorache Tofiño in the 38th minute. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Progresul Pitesti's goalkeeper Martin Tudor, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mihai Tâbârnă was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the game, GoooooL's Mihai Tâbârnă nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Martin Tudor made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Iker Madrid took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vasile Blănaru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Martin Tudor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Călin Senin in the 59th minute of the match. In the 60th minute, Călin Senin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Martin Tudor was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. 62 minutes into the match, Progresul Pitesti's goalkeeper Martin Tudor had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mihai Tâbârnă. In the 63rd minute Ştefan Grigore shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Tudor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Progresul Pitesti's zone, Adrian Mutu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Martin Tudor came out of the goal and Adrian Mutu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. GoooooL walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
