Viola Invest's Kuuno Tälli got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dorel Nedelciu got free with Dumitru Doloman in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 21 played minutes Academia Rio got a freekick which was hit by Eric Pășcuțoiu. Stig-Åke Gabrielsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aurelian Coporan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stig-Åke Gabrielsson ran back to his position shaking his head. Academia Rio's Aurelian Coporan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kuuno Tälli in the 34th minute of play. In the 37th minute Gavril Anghelescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aurelian Coporan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dumitru Pantelimon hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Aurelian Coporan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mario Jakobe in the 47th minute of the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Dumitru Doloman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorel Nedelciu in the 50th minute of the match. Dumitru Doloman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sergiu Coșeriu, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stig-Åke Gabrielsson couldn't finish the play. Kuuno Tälli recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
