An unexpectedly hard shot by Vergil Rupov in the 75th minute of play forced Club Brugge's goalkeeper Stein Spoelberch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Stein Spoelberch managed to avoid a goal in the 77thth minute, when Genk's Vergil Rupov fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Lenny Vorster was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Genk eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
