Thanks to some nice moves Ken Brogren could shoot a difficult shot in the 21st minute, which Méndez Marfa however easily saved by the left post. 26 minutes into the match, Fox Hunting Squad's goalkeeper Méndez Marfa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Xavies Muñagorri. 29 minutes into the match, Fox Hunting Squad's goal looked a bit too open when Mac Mon came free, but Méndez Marfa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luc Van Hinnendael showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nic Adams, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nic Adams in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luc Van Hinnendael prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 39 minutes into the match, Dries De Raeijmaeker had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luc Van Hinnendael. FC Bruges's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dries De Raeijmaeker was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Luc Van Hinnendael made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dries De Raeijmaeker in the 45th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

A collision led to FC Bruges getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Carl Van Kamp hit a great ball. Méndez Marfa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xavies Muñagorri in the 65th minute of the match.
