Charlotte FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Don Malbec was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Key Biscayne FC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Primus Listiyantoro hit a great ball. The supporters of Key Biscayne FC booed when Charlotte FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kaja Jamak didn't get a good kick on the ball. Felix Dias hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Felix Dias's late challenge caught a Key Biscayne FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felix Dias helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Charlotte FC getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Felix Dias hit a great ball. Bryant Miles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cody McKay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dustin Burton made a kick off. In the 59thth minute of the game Dustin Burton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Charlotte FC's Bryant Miles was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 60 minutes, Ali Hogue mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Key Biscayne FC and the Charlotte FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ali Hogue kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. In the 66th match minute, Charlotte FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primo Dunđer to maneuver through the defense. Cody McKay took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 67th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Bryant Miles. Charlotte FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 68 minutes into the game, Clayton Castillo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Key Biscayne FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Charlotte FC the free kick. The supporters of Charlotte FC booed when Key Biscayne FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clayton Castillo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kareem Stoddard could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Lonnie Hurley made a huge save. Bryant Miles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Korey Reed, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 77 minutes into the game, Korey Reed cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Bryant Miles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Charlotte FC's Wander Suzanne was substituted for Braulio Hitz. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ali Hogue in the 83rd minute of play forced Charlotte FC's goalkeeper Bryant Miles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 90th minute, Kareem Stoddard hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vicente Rafferty in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lonnie Hurley prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Wander Suzanne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lonnie Hurley having to interfere.
