Golden Hills's Egil Östlund played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xu Yun Quan in the 9th minute of play. When Golden Hills's Ward Doran in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye C. A. Independiente's zone, Ward Doran stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Miguel Ángel Santoro came out of the goal and Ward Doran tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 17 minutes into the game, Wallace Whatley was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. C. A. Independiente's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Golden Hills the free kick. Ward Doran's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Miguel Ángel Santoro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Egil Östlund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xu Yun Quan in the 23rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Orville Hough managed to get in a good position for a shot. Golden Hills's supporters rose to their feet, but Orville Hough was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Miguel Ángel Santoro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 27thth minute of the game Ward Doran who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but C. A. Independiente's Miguel Ángel Santoro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ward Doran might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Miguel Ángel Santoro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ward Doran ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Miguel Ángel Santoro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 37th minute of the match, Xu Yun Quan tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Egil Östlund saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Miguel Ángel Santoro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ward Doran in the 43rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Melvin Ruffin managed to get in a good position for a shot. C. A. Independiente's supporters rose to their feet, but Melvin Ruffin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Egil Östlund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ward Doran to strike the kick off in the second half. Ward Doran fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Ángel Santoro having to interfere. Conrad Carrington sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Conrad Carrington had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Miguel Ángel Santoro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ward Doran in the 58th minute. Xu Yun Quan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Miguel Ángel Santoro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ward Doran, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Miguel Ángel Santoro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ward Doran in the 65th minute. If Ward Doran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, C. A. Independiente booed when Golden Hills was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Virgil Forbes didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xu Yun Quan in the 71st minute of play forced Golden Hills's goalkeeper Egil Östlund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When C. A. In the 94th minute, Ward Doran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 95 played minutes, C. A. Independiente's Xu Yun Quan shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Egil Östlund came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in C. A. Independiente reached it.
