Aldo Hawk stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lanny Gilmore's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. In the 9th minute Mike Richardson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aldo Hawk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 10th minute, Tyron Velasquez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Aldo Hawk was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 14 minutes into the match, Santos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelo-Luis Butcher came free, but Aaron Smallwood reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 16th minute of the match Atletico Patoruzu got a corner. Santos FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Roberto Perfumo ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Atletico Patoruzu's corner Roberto Perfumo fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Aaron Smallwood quite easily take care of the ball. In the 29th minute, Tyron Velasquez made a precise shot to the right of Aldo Hawk. Atletico Patoruzu's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Aldo Hawk didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lanny Gilmore went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Rene Harman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aaron Smallwood was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. In the 36th minute Atletico Patoruzu were awarded a corner. Roberto Perfumo went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Atletico Patoruzu's Roberto Perfumo to fire away a dangerous shot which Aaron Smallwood despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lanny Gilmore in the 42nd minute of play forced Atletico Patoruzu's goalkeeper Aldo Hawk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Santos FC's Aaron Smallwood played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gualterio Aguirre in the 52nd minute of play. In the 53rd minute, Lanny Gilmore reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Aldo Hawk. The goal made the score 0-4. Santos FC's Aaron Smallwood played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rene Harman in the 57th minute of play. Atletico Patoruzu made a substitution. Diego Latorre replaced Rene Harman. In the 61st minute Atletico Patoruzu were awarded a corner. Roberto Perfumo went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Atletico Patoruzu's corner Noah Hobson fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Aaron Smallwood quite easily take care of the ball. 71 minutes into the match, Atletico Patoruzu's goal looked a bit too open when Lanny Gilmore came free, but Aldo Hawk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Tyron Velasquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Atletico Patoruzu booed when Santos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tory Weeks didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute of the match Roberto Perfumo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Aaron Smallwood showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The throw-in from Rúben Verdun in the 85th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Santos FC's Titus Kohler. After 89 minutes, Mike Richardson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santos FC and the Atletico Patoruzu players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 93 minutes of play, Atletico Patoruzu's Gualterio Aguirre made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Aaron Smallwood was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Santos FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
