The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of SC Freiburg 09 booed when AD Pontassolense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rogério Bettencourt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kevin Quintanilha received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ivo Guterres came out and tried to block the shot, but Kevin Quintanilha slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 13th minute. Caio Sampaio might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marco Bessa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Caio Sampaio ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 20th minute of the match, Giuseppe Catarinense tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ivo Guterres saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Marco Bessa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Abílio Passos's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Giuseppe Catarinense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Ivo Guterres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, SC Freiburg 09's goal looked a bit too open when Giuseppe Catarinense came free, but Ivo Guterres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marco Bessa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abílio Passos in the 35th minute of the match. 39 minutes into the game, Raul Leal cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Marco Bessa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Marco Bessa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raul Leal in the 41st minute of play. If Giuseppe Catarinense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 46 minutes into the match, SC Freiburg 09's goalkeeper Ivo Guterres had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kevin Quintanilha. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Raul Leal during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Raul Leal hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Ivo Guterres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giuseppe Catarinense in the 54th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Januário Domingos in the 56th minute of play forced SC Freiburg 09's goalkeeper Ivo Guterres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nuno Bragança took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marco Bessa. Marco Bessa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Ivo Guterres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Januário Domingos, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Januário Domingos in the 69th minute of play forced SC Freiburg 09's goalkeeper Ivo Guterres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ivo Guterres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Januário Domingos in the 71st minute of play. In the 72nd minute of the match AD Pontassolense got a corner. SC Freiburg 09's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Januário Domingos ran over to the corner to take the kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raul Leal in the 74th minute of play forced AD Pontassolense's goalkeeper Marco Bessa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Humberto Carmo hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. After 78 played minutes AD Pontassolense got a freekick which was hit by Henrique Onofre. The audience was convinced that Giuseppe Catarinense's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ivo Guterres was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. Ivo Guterres stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Giuseppe Catarinense's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. Ivo Guterres was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. SC Freiburg 09 had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
