After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Sandro Rangel got a free kick in the 20th minute. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emin Kuman in the 21st minute of play. A collision led to Sporting Clube de Gaya getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Adolfo Cedro hit a great ball. In the 28th minute, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Fredy Montero dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. If Albérico Coelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Manuel Fernandes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Dimas Nunes made a huge save. Sporting DoutroMundo were furious when Cesar Verdugo was red carded, 38 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Jeremiah St. Juste quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Mariano Pádua, made in the 40th minute of the game. Dimas Nunes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fredy Montero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fredy Montero in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dimas Nunes saved Sporting DoutroMundo from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 46 minutes, Fredy Montero took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Dimas Nunes to make any attempt to save it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Estevão Granja made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fredy Montero in the 52nd minute of play forced Sporting DoutroMundo's goalkeeper Dimas Nunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adolfo Cedro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dimas Nunes having to interfere. Renato Vargas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Estevão Granja in the 55th minute of the match. In the 57th minute, Mustapha Hadji hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Albérico Coelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Renato Vargas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Fredy Montero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dimas Nunes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Fernandes, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. The Sporting Clube de Gaya fans' excitement grew in the 64th match minute when Sporting Clube de Gaya's Fredy Montero looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Renato Vargas was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Estevão Granja showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-2 in the 67 minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fredy Montero in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dimas Nunes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 71 minutes Sporting DoutroMundo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Fredy Montero who took care of the corner kick. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Fredy Montero was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dimas Nunes in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Estevão Granja managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting DoutroMundo's supporters rose to their feet, but Estevão Granja was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Renato Vargas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dimas Nunes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manuel Fernandes's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. Renato Vargas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albérico Coelho in the 77th minute of play. Adolfo Cedro struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Dimas Nunes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Clube de Gaya.
