The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Fredy Montero could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Frits Sap made a huge save. In the 15thth minute of the game Fredy Montero who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ÓKINJÔ FC's Frits Sap was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 19th minute, Naim Ünal left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ÓKINJÔ FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. When the match clock showed 22 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Naim Ünal sped through Sporting Clube de Gaya's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Renato Vargas. Giovanni Colebinders hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandrino Sesimbra in the 26th minute of play forced Sporting Clube de Gaya's goalkeeper Renato Vargas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Renato Vargas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trond Hagen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 28 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube de Gaya's goal looked a bit too open when Naim Ünal came free, but Renato Vargas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Renato Vargas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amável Baldaia in the 29th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Naim Ünal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Renato Vargas was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. In the 32nd minute Naim Ünal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renato Vargas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandrino Sesimbra in the 33rd minute of play. Renato Vargas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trond Hagen, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. If Trond Hagen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Renato Vargas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandrino Sesimbra in the 42nd minute of the match. Shukrie Laycock charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Shukrie Laycock the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Sporting Clube de Gaya getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Shukrie Laycock hit a great ball. After the first half ÓKINJÔ FC were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Fredy Montero made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting Clube de Gaya's zone, Trond Hagen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Renato Vargas came out of the goal and Trond Hagen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Renato Vargas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amável Baldaia, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Trond Hagen came free with the goalkeeper in the 58th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Renato Vargas could save by the left post. Trond Hagen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renato Vargas having to interfere. Renato Vargas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandrino Sesimbra in the 63rd minute of the match. After 64 minutes, Naim Ünal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ÓKINJÔ FC and the Sporting Clube de Gaya players grew even worse after the yellow card. Renato Vargas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amável Baldaia in the 66th minute of play. After 67 minutes of play, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Fredy Montero made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Frits Sap was left in no man's land by his defense there! Renato Vargas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Naim Ünal went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. 1-6 became the score in the 73rd minute when Alexandrino Sesimbra elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Renato Vargas made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Seyhun Demircan sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Naim Ünal in the 79th minute of play forced Sporting Clube de Gaya's goalkeeper Renato Vargas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Naim Ünal's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 79thth minute, Renato Vargas skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 80 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube de Gaya's goal looked a bit too open when Trond Hagen came free, but Renato Vargas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Frits Sap stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fredy Montero's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. Naim Ünal was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 84th minute. ÓKINJÔ FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Giovanni Colebinders recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Renato Vargas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandrino Sesimbra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Sporting Clube de Gaya from getting a goal against them. In the 92nd minute, Seyhun Demircan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
