After 18 played minutes, Lima Team's Herberto Caiado shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Inácio Quinaz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Lima Team reached it. Ribeirada were furious when Celedonio Vistruario was red carded, 20 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 20th minute, one of Ribeirada:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ribeirada. After some careless play in the Ribeirada defense, Herberto Caiado kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Inácio Quinaz. The Ribeirada fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Inácio Quinaz should have stopped the shot. Inácio Quinaz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Herberto Caiado's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. When Lima Team's Herberto Caiado in the 26th minute got a chance for a shot 26th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Lima Team's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Cunha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Herberto Caiado struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Inácio Quinaz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lima Team. Francisco Infante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Rico in the 40th minute of the match. The supporters of Ribeirada booed when Lima Team was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. 45 minutes into the match, Ribeirada's goal looked a bit too open when Herberto Caiado came free, but Inácio Quinaz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jorge Rico fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Infante having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jorge Rico made a kick off. Ribeirada's Hermes Vilanova got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jorge Rico sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Inácio Quinaz made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Jacob Barroso sent off a good shot on target. In the 91st minute of the match Lima Team got a corner. Ribeirada's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Herberto Caiado ran over to the corner to take the kick. Herberto Caiado made a great header on Lima Team's corner, it was just that Ribeirada's Inácio Quinaz managed to reach the ball for a save. 91 minutes into the game, Hermes Vilanova was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
