Paços de Ferreira's goal looked a bit too open when Qu Wei Guang came free, but Péter Mészáros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17th minute Erik Beckeman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Péter Mészáros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 20th minute of the match F.C. Paços de Ferreira got a corner. Tutti Mammati's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Igor Tudor ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 25 played minutes Tutti Mammati got a freekick which was hit by Danilo Amaro. Péter Mészáros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erik Beckeman in the 33rd minute of the match. In the 38th minute José Bomba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albérico Carmona saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albérico Carmona showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emin Sağan, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. With an all-out effort, F.C. Paços de Ferreira's Albérico Carmona threw himself towards the right post 45 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from José Bomba, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 48 minutes Tutti Mammati's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Igor Tudor who took care of the corner kick. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Qu Wei Guang to make the kick off. The supporters of F.C. Paços de Ferreira booed when Tutti Mammati was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Qu Wei Guang didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Erik Beckeman got free with Péter Mészáros in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Qu Wei Guang in the 62nd minute of play forced F.C. Paços de Ferreira's goalkeeper Péter Mészáros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
