La Para showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luca Saenger in the 18th minute of the match. In the 31st minute Luca Saenger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but La Para saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Scott Herz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 38 minutes, Harvey Dresdner managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hemmersbacher SV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Harvey Dresdner was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 43rd minute Scott Herz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but La Para saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 46 minutes into the match, Hemmersbacher SV's goalkeeper Khalid Gottschalk had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fred Lara.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luca Saenger stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The shot was a little too simple and La Para could save by the left post. 57 minutes into the match, Hemmersbacher SV's goal looked a bit too open when Jack Saunders came free, but Khalid Gottschalk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, FC Lugano's La Para got control of the ball when Scott Herz tried to sneak it across the goal line. 85 minutes into the match, FC Lugano's goalkeeper La Para had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Olympio Gerste. In the 85th minute, Olympio Gerste reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of La Para. The goal made the score 2-2. Hemmersbacher SV's Olympio Gerste got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Khalid Gottschalk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yusuf Ziya Cerit in the 90th minute of play. Fred Lara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hemmersbacher SV's goalkeeper Khalid Gottschalk, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
