With an extended leg and a bit of luck Yuriy Babushkin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francesco Totti in the 23rd minute of play forced Deportivo Messina's goalkeeper Yuriy Babushkin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Teodosio Ascencio to make the kick off. Luis Cordario's late challenge caught a Los Mega's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luis Cordario helped the player get up and apologised. Los Mega's Aquilino Roderigo was substituted for Angel Valerio. After 53 played minutes Deportivo Messina got a freekick which was hit by Luis Cordario. After having played for 57 minutes, Stig-Arne Melberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Los Mega's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stig-Arne Melberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Francesco Totti let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 60th minute shot 1-3 at rihgt post. Deportivo Messina's Yuriy Babushkin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Deportivo Messina from getting a goal against them. Federico Jaizki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teodosio Ascencio, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Los Mega walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
