Jacobo Romo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Jacobo Romo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Flavio Fernandes's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. With a little luck, Vamo A Calmarno's Bart Basson got control of the ball when Albino Oso tried to sneak it across the goal line. 27 minutes had been played when some careless play by Vamo A Calmarno's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Juan Pablo Sorin was slow to take the kick. During this time CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's players had a chance to rest. Teofilo Panfilo thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Bart Basson, a very annoying self made goal in the 28th minute which led to 1-2. Vamo A Calmarno's Bart Basson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Vamo A Calmarno from getting a goal against them. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's goalkeeper Jacobo Romo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Doyle Quenneville hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's Gustavo Txurio got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Kiril Ivkov kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Flavio Fernandes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Venancio Carretero got free with Jacobo Romo in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Flavio Fernandes might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacobo Romo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Flavio Fernandes ran back to his position shaking his head. Jacobo Romo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flavio Fernandes, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. After 63 minutes CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Serbülent Ushan who took care of the corner kick. Flavio Fernandes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jacobo Romo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's goal looked a bit too open when Flavio Fernandes came free, but Jacobo Romo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Froilan Joseph fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's protests and gave Froilan Joseph a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Vamo A Calmarno booed when CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Froilan Joseph didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vamo A Calmarno's Justino Rainerio was substituted for Flavio Fernandes. If Silvio Dalmai had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacobo Romo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Venancio Carretero in the 83rd minute. Justino Rainerio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's zone, Justino Rainerio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacobo Romo came out of the goal and Justino Rainerio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vamo A Calmarno's Bart Basson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelo Erruki in the 91st minute of play. In the 92nd match minute, Vamo A Calmarno was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Doyle Quenneville to maneuver through the defense. Doyle Quenneville scored 1-4 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jacobo Romo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
