The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tomas Mikelar's late challenge caught a Punta Alvear's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tomas Mikelar helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Punta Alvear booed when United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. After some careless play in the United defense, Ermegildo Heriberto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sabahattin Erten. The United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sabahattin Erten should have stopped the shot. In the 16th match minute, United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vinos Petrini to maneuver through the defense. Jacinto Eleazar, 17 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Sabahattin Erten took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bogdan Gopov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. United's Sabahattin Erten played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ermegildo Heriberto in the 23rd minute of play. In the 31st minute of the match, Florencio Oihan got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ovidio Sal was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Sabahattin Erten made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ermegildo Heriberto in the 35th minute of play. 38 minutes into the match, Jacinto Eleazar had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sabahattin Erten. United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jacinto Eleazar was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zlatan Gigant to make the kick off. If Zlatan Gigant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Florencio Oihan during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sabahattin Erten made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bogdan Gopov in the 58th minute of play. Punta Alvear's Ovidio Sal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zlatan Gigant in the 72nd minute of play. United made a substitution. Modesto Peirano replaced Zlatan Gigant. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Iratxo in the 79th minute of play forced United's goalkeeper Sabahattin Erten to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. United's Sabahattin Erten proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save United from getting a goal against them. Punta Alvear's Ovidio Sal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Modesto Peirano in the 85th minute of play. Domingo Cordarrel kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Ovidio Sal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Modesto Peirano in the 88th minute of the match. When Florencio Oihan came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florencio Oihan couldn't finish the play. Ernesto Jaunzuria lost his temper 94 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 94th match minute, United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernesto Jaunzuria to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Patricio Iratxo in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sabahattin Erten prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The United fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Punta Alvear were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
