An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Milito in the 20th minute of play forced HFA FC's goalkeeper Gordon Banks to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the HFA FC defense, Diego Milito kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gordon Banks. The HFA FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gordon Banks should have stopped the shot. When Nestor Checa fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Yrigoyen.F.C's protests and gave Nestor Checa a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th minute, Nestor Checa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Milito in the 35th minute of play forced HFA FC's goalkeeper Gordon Banks to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The corner went over the outstretched arms of HFA FC's goalie and right to Atilano Sotil. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. HFA FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The supporters of HFA FC booed when Yrigoyen.F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Atilano Sotil didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Atilano Sotil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Yrigoyen.F.C's Matías Suárez was substituted for Diego Milito.
