San Martin de Tucuman's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luciano Selmo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Damaso Sancho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee ignored San Martin de Tucuman's protests and gave Paulino Lamberto a yellow card for diving instead. Congo Bongo's Erasmo Sengrat was substituted for Gonzalo Cucho. In the 84th match minute, San Martin de Tucuman was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulino Lamberto to maneuver through the defense. The Congo Bongo fans cheered their team off the field, for while San Martin de Tucuman had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
