In the 21st minute, Marcelo Goito made a precise shot to the right of Pankracy Glogowski. Club Atlético Atlanta's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Emil Chwalkiewicz's late challenge caught a New Pi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Emil Chwalkiewicz helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of New Pi booed when Club Atlético Atlanta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emil Chwalkiewicz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfonso Goicoechea stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Zé Paulo Mendes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfonso Goicoechea in the 51st minute of play. In the 55th minute, Anselmo Nevada left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Atlético Atlanta fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zé Paulo Mendes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Alfonso Goicoechea put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Zé Paulo Mendes. Zé Paulo Mendes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfonso Goicoechea, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. If Eustaquio Jaizki had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Despite being the better team, Club Atlético Atlanta failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
