Lucio Afonso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorg Pieters in the 26th minute of the match. Josué Braga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Chiquito Martinez made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antonio Bernard in the 41st minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Chiquito Martinez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. TALLERES DE CBA's Lucio Afonso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Flavio Laurgain in the 43rd minute of play. Emanuele Luzi hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Lucio Afonso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorg Pieters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The crowd rose to their feet as Independiente's Benjy Benton slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Lucio Afonso. That made the score 1-2 after 82 minutes of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Benjy Benton got free with Lucio Afonso in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Although TALLERES DE CBA had been in control for most of the match, Independiente still came away with the win.
