In the 17th minute, Dário Prada got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Godofredo Maule showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dário Prada, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Leszek Henryk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Silas de Andrade tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 25 minutes into the game, Los Hornos's Dário Prada nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Godofredo Maule made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Dário Prada scored 1-3 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Godofredo Maule, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Los Hornos booed when San Martin de Tucumán was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaspar Quirce didn't get a good kick on the ball. 36 minutes into the match, Dário Prada had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Godofredo Maule. San Martin de Tucumán's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dário Prada was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. 39 minutes into the match, Los Hornos's goal looked a bit too open when Leszek Henryk came free, but Silas de Andrade reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Godofredo Maule took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dário Prada, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nicasio Jaizki kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind San Martin de Tucumán's goalkeeper Godofredo Maule, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 45 minutes into the match, San Martin de Tucumán's goal looked a bit too open when Dário Prada came free, but Godofredo Maule reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dário Prada to strike the kick off in the second half. Los Hornos were awarded a corner in the 55th minute after San Martin de Tucumán's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Justino Amato took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of San Martin de Tucumán's goalie and right to Charlie Hancock. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. San Martin de Tucumán's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After 56 played minutes San Martin de Tucumán got a freekick which was hit by Gaspar Quirce. Godofredo Maule made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dário Prada in the 57th minute. Silas de Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leszek Henryk in the 59th minute of the match. If Dário Prada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 70th minute, Lisandro Gudesteo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match clock showed 72 minutes, the score became 1-6 when Dário Prada sped through San Martin de Tucumán's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Godofredo Maule. Los Hornos's Silas de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niklas Ekeberg in the 88th minute of play. When Los Hornos's Dário Prada in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye San Martin de Tucumán's goalie prevented a goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Los Hornos eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
