The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tymoteusz Domaracki could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Gigi Buffon made a huge save. With his leg Gigi Buffon managed to avoid a goal in the 7thth minute, when KS Blizne's Aureliusz Dlugi fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 9th minute Klement Bryk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgar Gregorczyk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ajax's Gigi Buffon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Ajax from getting a goal against them. Piotr Filipkowski's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Gigi Buffon firmly grabbed it by the left post. Gigi Buffon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hardy Skallergård in the 22nd minute of play. With a little luck, Ajax's Gigi Buffon got control of the ball when Tymoteusz Domaracki tried to sneak it across the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tonton Eren to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hardy Skallergård in the 50th minute of play forced Ajax's goalkeeper Gigi Buffon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
