After some careless play in the Katowice i Kluczbork defense, Enrique Mouricio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arkadiusz Smolarek. The Katowice i Kluczbork fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arkadiusz Smolarek should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Katowice i Kluczbork booed when Śląsk Bytom was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kazimierz Ewertowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Śląsk Bytom were leading 1-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Arkadiusz Smolarek stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enrique Mouricio's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. Teofil Chojnacki hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. 61 minutes into the match, Śląsk Bytom's goal looked a bit too open when Dimo Toresano came free, but Antoni Brama reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Hakkı Elçin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arkadiusz Smolarek was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. A collision led to Katowice i Kluczbork getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Roland Laureys hit a great ball. Katowice i Kluczbork's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hakkı Elçin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-5. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Śląsk Bytom eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
