In the 12th minute Saúl Gentiletti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Qurban Äsädli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Saúl Gentiletti's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Qurban Äsädli read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. 15 minutes into the match, FC Žalia Giria's goal looked a bit too open when Jerome Bollaert came free, but Vilmantas Matulas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vilmantas Matulas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Senio Opazo in the 21st minute. After a rather tough play, SazobaSpor's Song Feng Chen got a free kick in the 44th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jerome Bollaert in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vilmantas Matulas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 53 minutes into the match, Jerome Bollaert notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of FC Žalia Giria's Vilmantas Matulas. Vilmantas Matulas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
