But to his dismay, Richie Ason quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 34 minutes into the match, CERRO PORTEÑO's goal looked a bit too open when Richie Ason came free, but Jiang Lei reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 41 minutes into the match, ALIANZA 1901's goal looked a bit too open when Mohieddine Ayari came free, but Ruy Berger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of CERRO PORTEÑO booed when ALIANZA 1901 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pancho Tabernilla didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half ALIANZA 1901 were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

CERRO PORTEÑO's Mohieddine Ayari got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. ALIANZA 1901's Ruy Berger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mohieddine Ayari in the 60th minute of play. In the 64th match minute, CERRO PORTEÑO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vermudo Capetillo to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, CERRO PORTEÑO's Jiang Lei got control of the ball when Richie Ason tried to sneak it across the goal line. CERRO PORTEÑO's Edward Spets quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Alfredo Tomasini, made in the 71st minute of the game. In the 72nd minute Richie Ason shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jiang Lei saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Moreno Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruy Berger having to interfere. Abel Velasco helped the player get up and apologised. After 95 played minutes CERRO PORTEÑO got a freekick which was hit by Abel Velasco. In the 97th match minute, ALIANZA 1901 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Escobar to maneuver through the defense. The ALIANZA 1901 players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented CERRO PORTEÑO from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
