Marc Cucurull helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Atlético de Sagunto getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Marc Cucurull hit a great ball. Zenon Suarez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Napier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Boca Juniors's Jacinto Cuadrado got control of the ball when Asdrubal Prieto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Asdrubal Prieto kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Saul Villanueva hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. In the 25th match minute, Atlético de Sagunto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Artzai Pais to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 26 minutes, Rolando Amorebieta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Boca Juniors's Diego Napier got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 42 minutes into the game, Válbson Paes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Zenon Suarez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Asdrubal Prieto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jacinto Cuadrado having to make a save. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Asdrubal Prieto made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rolando Amorebieta in the 54th minute of play forced Atlético de Sagunto's goalkeeper Zenon Suarez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saul Villanueva in the 55th minute of play forced Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jacinto Cuadrado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Atlético de Sagunto's Zenon Suarez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Atlético de Sagunto from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rolando Amorebieta got free with Zenon Suarez in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
