An unexpectedly hard shot by Americo Olivar in the 5th minute of play forced Velez-Malaga's goalkeeper Angelino Lawrence to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Angelino Lawrence came out of the goal in the 5th minute to try and stop a shot by FCSB CUENCA's Americo Olivar. But to his dismay, Americo Olivar quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 10th minute of the game Samuel Dracena made a throw-in which Marcio Carreira played forward. If Cristian Matxin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Angelino Lawrence took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcio Carreira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marcio Carreira in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Angelino Lawrence prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 18th minute, Americo Olivar left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FCSB CUENCA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Velez-Malaga's Angelino Lawrence played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcio Carreira in the 21st minute of play. After 22 minutes of play, FCSB CUENCA's Marcio Carreira made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Angelino Lawrence was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Marcio Carreira sped through Velez-Malaga's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Angelino Lawrence. 28 minutes into the match, Marcio Carreira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Angelino Lawrence. Velez-Malaga's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcio Carreira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. Velez-Malaga's Angelino Lawrence played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcio Carreira in the 35th minute of play. Beto Sola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Matxin in the 40th minute of play. Velez-Malaga's Cristian Matxin was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Beto Sola in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Velez-Malaga's Angelino Lawrence played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Salbatore Colillas in the 44th minute of play. In the 47th minute, Odilon Bacete hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

João Francisco Sanches's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Angelino Lawrence read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. FCSB CUENCA's Beto Sola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Matxin in the 61st minute of play. Cristian Matxin took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Beto Sola. Beto Sola dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-6. In the 68th match minute, Velez-Malaga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Braulio Xabat to maneuver through the defense. 70 minutes into the match, Velez-Malaga's goalkeeper Angelino Lawrence had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcio Carreira. FCSB CUENCA's Lucila Gimeno managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Xian Vacas in the 76 minute of the game. After 76 minutes, Emeterio Aznar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Velez-Malaga and the FCSB CUENCA players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Velez-Malaga getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Emeterio Aznar hit a great ball. Velez-Malaga's Angelino Lawrence proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Velez-Malaga from getting a goal against them. Through an outstanding action, after 82 minutes, Angelino Lawrence successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Marcio Carreira had several of the Velez-Malaga's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 85 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-8 score and a disappointed Angelino Lawrence as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 88th minute, Cristian Matxin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Beto Sola was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-8. If Cristian Matxin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Samuel Dracena during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When the final whistle sounded FCSB CUENCA left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Velez-Malaga.
