Plaza Babys CF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Yasin Saleh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 18 minutes into the match, Plaza Babys CF's goal looked a bit too open when Marcio Carreira came free, but Abelardo Macías reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abelardo Macías didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Spiros Bekyros went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 29 minutes into the match, Marcio Carreira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Abelardo Macías. Plaza Babys CF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcio Carreira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Spiros Bekyros in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Abelardo Macías saved Plaza Babys CF from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in FCSB CUENCA's zone, Aparicio Ladra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Beto Sola came out of the goal and Aparicio Ladra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 35 minutes into the game, Marcio Carreira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Abelardo Macías was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Lundin in the 40th minute of play forced Plaza Babys CF's goalkeeper Abelardo Macías to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yasin Saleh in the 44th minute of play forced FCSB CUENCA's goalkeeper Beto Sola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Spiros Bekyros to make the kick off.
