The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gerrit Hooiveld got free with Tudor Mihoc in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Koos Alberts scored 0-1 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pedrão Sarmento, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 15th minute, Gerrit Hooiveld hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Sjaak Degens managed to get in a good position for a shot. Buitenhout FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Sjaak Degens was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedrão Sarmento breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kelmond S.C.'s Pedrão Sarmento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Koos Alberts in the 18th minute of play. In the last second Tudor Mihoc throw himself and got hold of the ball when Martien Sandstra in the 20thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. When the match clock showed 34 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Koos Alberts sped through Kelmond S.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Pedrão Sarmento. The audience was convinced that Martien Sandstra's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tudor Mihoc was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Kelmond S.C.'s zone, Koos Alberts stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedrão Sarmento came out of the goal and Koos Alberts tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sjaak Degens stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Henny de Winter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 56th minute Gerrit Hooiveld shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tudor Mihoc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedrão Sarmento showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ferry Hebels in the 59th minute of the match. In the 60th minute Gerrit Hooiveld shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tudor Mihoc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedrão Sarmento stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ferry Hebels's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sjaak Degens got free with Pedrão Sarmento in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 64th minute, Gerrit Hooiveld got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 67th match minute, Buitenhout FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacobus Spoel to maneuver through the defense. In the 75th match minute, Kelmond S.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kevin Oosterveld to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jose Azubeli in the 90th minute of play forced Buitenhout FC's goalkeeper Tudor Mihoc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 97 minutes into the match, Buitenhout FC's goal looked a bit too open when Martien Sandstra came free, but Tudor Mihoc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
