Independente FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Nilson Duarte in the 16th minute. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Locomotiva grena. 83 minutes into the game, Luiz Guilherme Sena was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Locomotiva grena's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Independente FC the free kick. The supporters of Independente FC booed when Locomotiva grena was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Guilherme Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 84 minutes, Luiz Marquez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independente FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Marquez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Raí Prestes got free with Dorian Machado in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dorian Machado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Marquez, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Nilson Duarte's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dorian Machado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. In the 98th minute, Raí Prestes made a precise shot to the right of Dorian Machado. Locomotiva grena's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Independente FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
