It was a well-played corner which Luiz Guilherme Varela managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 15 minutes into the match, Billy Dowdall had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rogério Paraense. Zandarin FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Billy Dowdall was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Flavinho Rosado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Zandarin FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Flavinho Rosado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nilson do Vale breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rogério Paraense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdir Garcia in the 25th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marinos Androulakis to make the kick off. Valdir Garcia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Rogério Paraense made a huge save. 56 minutes into the match, Bandelocos's goal looked a bit too open when Marinos Androulakis came free, but Nilson do Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
