Despite this Gilvan Sanches quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 9thth minute of the game Natã Quintal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Green Squad FC's Gilvan Sanches was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Gilvan Sanches showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dino Tavares, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. After 19 played minutes Nova Venécia-ES got a freekick which was hit by Leonel Paranaense. In the 24th minute, Natã Quintal made a precise shot to the right of Gilvan Sanches. Green Squad FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Nova Venécia-ES's Luís Gustavo do Nascimento proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Nova Venécia-ES from getting a goal against them. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Leonardo Barros was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute Leonel Paranaense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilvan Sanches saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gilvan Sanches took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dino Tavares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Green Squad FC's zone, Valdo Diniz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilvan Sanches came out of the goal and Valdo Diniz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Tadeu Cosme's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luís Gustavo do Nascimento was relentless in the 71st minute of the game.
