After some careless play in the Matungo Gaúcho defense, Reynaldo Osmond kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ademir Baptista. The Matungo Gaúcho fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ademir Baptista should have stopped the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Milosz Hejza was the one to do the kick off. Guilherme Catarinense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilmar Borges in the 59th minute of the match. 62 minutes into the match, Joinville United - FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Gilmar Borges came free, but Guilherme Catarinense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
