The audience thought a goal was coming when Geovani Mendonça got free with José Luis Heidemann in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the La Zorro Negro defense, Maicon Palmeira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of José Luis Heidemann. The La Zorro Negro fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that José Luis Heidemann should have stopped the shot. A hard shot 25 in the game by Geovani Mendonça from a close distance when the talented José Luis Heidemann managed to make a qualified save. La Zorro Negro's players were relieved. Maicon Palmeira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Luis Heidemann read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. 28 minutes into the game, E. C. Uruguaiana's Maicon Palmeira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. José Luis Heidemann made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Maicon Palmeiras short, quick shot in the 32ndth minute got José Luis Heidemann to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. E. C. Uruguaiana's Vicente Guimarães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rigoberto Piearres in the 34th minute of play. With a little luck, La Zorro Negro's José Luis Heidemann got control of the ball when Maicon Palmeira tried to sneak it across the goal line. Vicente Guimarães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diguinho Rossi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to E. C. Uruguaiana getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Valdemar da Cunha hit a great ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Geovani Mendonça was the one to do the kick off. Maicon Palmeira scored 3-0 in the 52nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of José Luis Heidemann, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 55th minute, Rigoberto Piearres reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Vicente Guimarães. The goal made the score 3-1. Rigoberto Piearres recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. E. C. Uruguaiana made a substitution. Ricardo Schneider replaced Clemente Eger. Maicon Palmeira took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Luis Heidemann. José Luis Heidemann dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. A collision led to La Zorro Negro getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Valdo de Queirós hit a great ball. Maicon Palmeira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geovani Mendonça in the 96th minute of play forced La Zorro Negro's goalkeeper José Luis Heidemann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. La Zorro Negro's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
