Edgard de Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valentim Leão in the 9th minute of the match. Montesclarense E.C. were furious when Eurico Velloso was red carded, 11 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 10th minute, one of Montesclarense E.C.:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Montesclarense E.C.. Edgard de Almeida didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Valentim Leão went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After 16 minutes, Wilson do Nascimento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Montesclarense E.C. and the BAAS FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. 19 minutes into the match, Montesclarense E.C.'s goalkeeper Edgard de Almeida had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Valentim Leão. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Valentim Leão sped through Montesclarense E.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edgard de Almeida. In the 30th match minute, BAAS FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xavi Hernandez to maneuver through the defense. 34 minutes into the match, BAAS FC's Valentim Leão sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edgard de Almeida narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Edgard de Almeida made an important save on a dangerous shot by Valentim Leão in the 36th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valentim Leão got free with Edgard de Almeida in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when André Luís Schmidt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Montesclarense E.C.'s Edgard de Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valentim Leão in the 58th minute of play. The corner ended in Humberto Severo almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Montesclarense E.C.'s Edgard de Almeida did a great save. In the 64th minute, Montesclarense E.C.'s Paulão Medeiros dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. After a rather tough play, Montesclarense E.C.'s Ernani Tavares got a free kick in the 70th minute. Edgard de Almeida showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valentim Leão, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Paulão Medeiros struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Tamer Kutcan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montesclarense E.C.. Paulão Medeiros's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tamer Kutcan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Montesclarense E.C.'s goalkeeper Edgard de Almeida, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. BAAS FC were awarded a corner in the 80th minute after Montesclarense E.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Humberto Severo took the corner. After taking down the ball on BAAS FC's corner Bato Leve fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Edgard de Almeida quite easily take care of the ball. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Montesclarense E.C.'s goalkeeper Edgard de Almeida, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A nice corner shot did that Xavi Hernandez got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Edgard de Almeida quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Paulão Medeiros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Tamer Kutcan made a huge save. 86 minutes into the game, one of Montesclarense E.C.:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 87th minute there was a penalty for BAAS FC. Valentim Leão stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Edgard de Almeida. 4-2. Gabriel Abreu kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Paulão Medeiros's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tamer Kutcan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. In the 93rd minute, Wilson do Nascimento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Montesclarense E.C. defense, Valentim Leão kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edgard de Almeida. The Montesclarense E.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edgard de Almeida should have stopped the shot.
