Mario Jesus Jardel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nelsinho Leite read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. CA Portugália's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fernandinho Barral in the 8th minute. Claudinei Tasso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 12 minutes into the match, CA Portugália's goal looked a bit too open when Gilmar Monteiro came free, but Rogério Soberano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mario Jesus Jardel in the 20th minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Nelsinho Leite to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st minute Claudinei Tasso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelsinho Leite saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But to his dismay, João Pirani quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. CA Portugália's Rogério Soberano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Pirani in the 37th minute of play. In the 41st minute, Gu Xiang Zhou hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nelsinho Leite made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinei Tasso in the 46th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when João Pirani made the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Vascogoianiense FC's Nelsinho Leite got control of the ball when Mario Jesus Jardel tried to sneak it across the goal line. CA Portugália's Rogério Soberano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Pirani in the 54th minute of play. Gilmar Monteiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mario Jesus Jardel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelsinho Leite having to interfere. Rogério Soberano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aírton Sousa in the 67th minute of the match. In the 77thth minute of the game Mario Jesus Jardel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vascogoianiense FC's Nelsinho Leite was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mario Jesus Jardel did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Nelsinho Leite 77 minutes into the match. Vascogoianiense FC's Carlos Eduardo Sergipano was substituted for Matheus Neto. CA Portugália made a substitution. Xandinho Kane replaced Mario Jesus Jardel. After 84 played minutes CA Portugália got a freekick which was hit by Valeh Cerda. If Gilmar Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 87 minutes into the game, Vascogoianiense FC's João Pirani nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rogério Soberano made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. CA Portugália's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
