Clemente Zanussi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lilian Vântu in the 25th minute of play forced CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's goalkeeper Juvenal Sergipano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute, Lobo Zornoza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gustavo Coelho was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 33 minutes into the match, Xurupita FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lobo Zornoza came free, but Gustavo Coelho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lilian Vântu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Juvenal Sergipano came out and tried to block the shot, but Lilian Vântu slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 37th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amado Froila in the 40th minute of play forced Xurupita FC's goalkeeper Gustavo Coelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gustavo Coelho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Célio Fontes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th minute, Célio Fontes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gustavo Coelho was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Célio Maranhense might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Juvenal Sergipano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Célio Maranhense ran back to his position shaking his head. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's goalkeeper Juvenal Sergipano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Amado Froila recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Juvenal Sergipano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lilian Vântu in the 55th minute of the match. Xurupita FC's Gil Cruz was substituted for Tarcisio Cordeiro. In the 59th minute Emerson Jacaré shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juvenal Sergipano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juvenal Sergipano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Célio Maranhense, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Juvenal Sergipano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lilian Vântu in the 72nd minute of play. 74 minutes into the match, Xurupita FC's goalkeeper Gustavo Coelho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Amado Froila. Thanks to some nice moves Amado Froila could shoot a difficult shot in the 74th minute, which Gustavo Coelho however easily saved by the left post. In the 75th minute, Lobo Zornoza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. 79 minutes into the match, Xurupita FC's Lilian Vântu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Juvenal Sergipano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 2-3 became the score in the 82nd minute when Lilian Vântu elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lilian Vântu in the 89th minute of play forced CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's goalkeeper Juvenal Sergipano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Xurupita FC's Gustavo Coelho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amado Froila in the 90th minute of play. The CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
