Botafogo MZRJ's Férid Khalifa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harm de Freitas in the 4th minute of play. Matei Răducu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilmar Couto, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Harm de Freitas in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Férid Khalifa saved Botafogo MZRJ from getting behind. After 12 minutes Botafogo MZRJ's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gabriel Martini who took care of the corner kick. MarquinhosEC's Gabriel Martini was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Férid Khalifa in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Matei Răducu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilmar Couto in the 16th minute of the match. With a little luck, Botafogo MZRJ's Férid Khalifa got control of the ball when Alessandro do Valle tried to sneak it across the goal line. Serginho Azevedo helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Botafogo MZRJ's Serginho Azevedo got a free kick in the 46th minute. After having played for 47 minutes, Alessandro do Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. MarquinhosEC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alessandro do Valle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gilmar Couto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Botafogo MZRJ booed when MarquinhosEC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harm de Freitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 56 minutes into the match, MarquinhosEC's goalkeeper Matei Răducu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Serginho Azevedo. MarquinhosEC's Matei Răducu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save MarquinhosEC from getting a goal against them. Férid Khalifa came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by MarquinhosEC's Fausto Di Blasio. But to his dismay, Fausto Di Blasio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. MarquinhosEC's Marco Tardelli was substituted for Harm de Freitas. 72 minutes into the game, MarquinhosEC's Fausto Di Blasio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Férid Khalifa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 75thth minute of the game Marco Tardelli who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Botafogo MZRJ's Férid Khalifa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 79th minute Fausto Di Blasio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Férid Khalifa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of MarquinhosEC booed when Botafogo MZRJ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juvenal Camargo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Matei Răducu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilmar Couto in the 94th minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Botafogo MZRJ players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for MarquinhosEC.
