Vivaldo Silveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celso Lopes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Júbilo Iwata's zone, Gilvan Severo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giovanni Pena came out of the goal and Gilvan Severo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 10 minutes into the match, Moquem's goal looked a bit too open when Celso Lopes came free, but Vivaldo Silveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Júbilo Iwata's Zé Roberto Velasco managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Vitório Bittencourt in the 12 minute of the game. In the 18th minute, Chico Mendonça hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 24th minute, Elenko Hrulev left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Júbilo Iwata fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Vitório Bittencourt made in the 28th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Júbilo Iwata's Zé Roberto Velasco. Vivaldo Silveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel Lira in the 32nd minute of play. When Elenko Hrulev fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Júbilo Iwata's protests and gave Elenko Hrulev a yellow card for diving instead. Alexandre Velloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vivaldo Silveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel Lira in the 41st minute of play. Giovanni Pena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilvan Severo, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 45th minute Celso Lopes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vivaldo Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marcel Lira was the one to do the kick off. Vivaldo Silveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elenko Hrulev in the 54th minute of play. After 54 played minutes Júbilo Iwata got a freekick which was hit by Rafinha Velasco. After 57 played minutes Júbilo Iwata got a freekick which was hit by Sandro de Barros. After a defensive mix-up in Moquem's zone, Celso Lopes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vivaldo Silveira came out of the goal and Celso Lopes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Elenko Hrulev took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Vivaldo Silveira to make any attempt to save it. Vivaldo Silveira came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by Júbilo Iwata's Celso Lopes. But to his dismay, Celso Lopes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. In the 71st minute, Celso Lopes made a precise shot to the right of Vivaldo Silveira. Moquem's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. William Mota received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Giovanni Pena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match clock showed 87 minutes, the score became 0-7 when Marcel Lira sped through Moquem's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Vivaldo Silveira. Marcel Lira struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Vivaldo Silveira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Júbilo Iwata. The Júbilo Iwata supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Júbilo Iwata would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
