The corner led Burukster's Luís Fábio Araújo to fire away a dangerous shot which Mieszko Karanowski despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pedro Toledo in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jeremias Ribeiro saved Burukster from getting behind. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pedro Toledo to make the kick off. In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind Marzagão's goalkeeper Mieszko Karanowski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 52nd minute of the match Burukster got a corner. Marzagão's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luís Fábio Araújo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Márcio Velloso got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. In the 58th minute Pedro Toledo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremias Ribeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marzagão's Mieszko Karanowski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ramón Wanchope in the 77th minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Burukster fully deserved thier win.
